A Small Step for International Cooperation
For yourself and for the world

What is the JVC International Cooperation Calendar?

Japan International Volunteer Center (JVC) is an international cooperation NGO established in 1980. The original goal was to save displaced people in Indochina. We currently have various projects in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the disaster area of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Our policy and aim is to address underlying causes of problems and seek ultimate solutions to issues happening all over the world.

For instance, distributing food does not always ease food shortage in the long run. Likewise, giving help to a refugee does not necessarily lead to reducing the number of refugees in total. We intend, not to simply fix and provide what is lacking, but to think together how we could create a self-sustainable community. We would like not only to save people wounded in conflicts, but aim to prevent conflicts themselves and create a peaceful society. We strongly believe in the significance of addressing the problems at the root.

The JVC International Cooperation Calendar was originally produced in 1986, for the purpose of raising awareness toward international cooperation and asking for assistance for JVC. Approximately 500,000 calendars have been sold since then. Currently, we produce JVC International Cooperation Calendar, Postcards and Smile New Year’s Cards every year. The proceeds will go to support various JVC projects around the world. By purchasing calendars and postcards which will brighten your daily life, you can contribute to building a better world.

Photographs of the JVC International Cooperation Calendar are taken and selected by leading professional photographers. The photographer of the 2018 calendar is Hiromi Nagakura, who has been taking photos of local people in various areas of the world. The theme of the calendar is “Daily Life” with the title “Have a nice day!” You will surely enjoy his wonderful shots, which describe the daily life of people throughout the world. We hope that people all over the world, including those who are using the calendar, will have a wonderful life.
